A wide variety of special events and resources surround George Rickey: An Evolution, including a very special cross-section of Rickey's work at the Indianapolis Art Center, a dedicated website, free printed and online maps and walking tours. All are designed to make this exhibition an extraordinary experience for everyone.

Join leaders from the Arts Council, Cultural Development Commission, and the City of Indianapolis as we welcome George Rickey's youngest son, Philip, and officially open the show.

Join Mindy Taylor Ross, Director of Public Art for the Arts Council of Indianapolis and producer of George Rickey: An Evolution, for a walking tour of the outdoor show downtown. Meet at Annular Eclipse V by Chase Tower at the corner of Monument Circle and East Market Street. There is on-street metered parking or to find a near-by parking garage visit: http://www.indydt.com/parking.cfm. The tour route is outlined on the included map.

A Life in Art: Works by George Rickey - June 26 - August 23, 2009, Indianapolis Art Center.
This survey includes 40 of Rickey's artworks, and features early portrait and still life paintings, Works Progress Administration (WPA) mural studies, small sculptures, late pastel floral studies and models of his renowned kinetic sculptures. On loan from the George Rickey Foundation, and presented by Jane Fortune, Robert R. Hesse, William L. Fortune, Jr. and Joseph D. Blakley, many of the artworks have not been exhibited publicly before. Five additional medium sized sculptures are installed in the Indianapolis Art Center's 12-acre sculpture park, ARTSPARK.
